Yoga Synergy was established in 1984 by Simon Borg Olivier and Bianca Machliss, both trained yoga teachers and Physiotherapists. The style is a combination of Ashtanga Yoga (dynamic flow), Iyengar (alignment components), Tibetan breathing practices and Physiotherapy.

Yoga Synergy's aim is to teach the ancient art of yoga in a safe, fun and intelligent way. We teach you to practice responsively (not automatically). It provides a practice that is safe for the modern body across all levels of fitness.

 The combination of Ashtanga (offering the more dynamic flow of Synergy), Iyengar (precise alignment), Tibetan breathing practices (in particular working with breath retention when dynamically moving in a posture) and Physiotherapy provides an intelligent sequence of postures. Each posture compliments the previous and prepares you for the next posture, ensuring that the right parts of the body are warmed up, stablised and ready. Emphasis is particularly placed on key areas of the body that tend to be weak/injured or over worked due to our lifestyles; most commonly neck, shoulders, lower back and knees.

Yoga Synergy aims to provide students with sound anatomical and physiological understanding of their body while doing any yoga. You can apply this understanding to any yoga class, physical activity and into everyday life.
