Description

Held over six weekends, this Course will cover:

  • What is scoliosis?
  • What does the scientific research tell us about this physicality and its physiologic impact?
  • Spinal Anatomy and Pathology (with particular attention to disc and facet lesions)
  • relevant experiential anatomy and embodied ecology processes to this landscape
  • the exploration and application of developmental movement processes to scoliosis
  • the embodied Figure eight and its application in asana with scoliosis

AND in particular:

  • yogasana,

    - with specific prop employment (particulary yoga ropes and the trestler), eliciting clarity of action and deep penetration of the spine, how to action the limbs in creating spinal change. A solid understanding of principles of movement in asana eg traction, stabilisation, breath work, working asymmetrically.

  • the capacity to look at the body in asymmetry, developing an understanding and a clear languaging of this terrain
  • yogic philosophy within practice

A research Practicum is integral to completion of this Training.

The Training is open to:

·         students who are wanting to attend to their own process more deeply

·         Teachers of yoga who are looking to specifically learn more about the spine, backcare issues and scoliosis in particular

·         other health professionals, eg Osteopaths, Physiotherapists with an interest in scoliosis
