Teaching
yoga consists of more than simply the skills required to perform asanas
correctly or knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Ultimately, the path
to teaching yoga with awareness and understanding involves deepening
your own practice.
Byron Yoga Centre’s Part Time Level 3 Teacher Training Course is an 100 hour course.
The course is designed to deliver holistic training that encompasses
the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the yogic path. This
course is for people already teaching and have ideally already completed
Byron Yoga Centre’s Level 1 and 2 advanced Teacher Training Course and
would like to gain experience teaching and practicing more advanced
postures.
Level 3 Postures
As well as learning to teach some more advanced postures, we will also
be practicing some more advanced techniques of Pranayama and Meditation.
The postures we will be looking at will include:
1. Surya Namaskar B - Sun Salutation B
2. Parivrtta Trikonasana - Revolved Triangle
3. Parivrtta Parsvakonasana - Revolved Side Angle Pose
4. Utthita Ardha Chandrasana - Extended Half Moon Pose
5. Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana - Revolved Half Moon Pose
6. Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana - Extended Hand to Big Toe Pose
7. Bhujapindasana - Arm Pressing Pose
8. Bakasana - Crane Pose
9. Salamba Sirsasana - Full Headstand
10. Pincha Mayurasana - Feathered Peacock Pose (forearm balance)
11. Urdhva Dhanurasana - Upward Bow Pose
12. Ustrasana - Camel Pose
13. Ardha Baddha Padma Paschimottanasana - Half Bound Lotus Forward Bend
14. Adho Mukha Vrksasana variations - Handstand variations
15. Salamba Sarvangasana variations - Shoulderstand variations
16. Supta Virasana - Reclining Hero
In addition to this, trainees will also learn to practice and teach the Purna Power sequence as taught by John Ogilvie.

Under the guidance of veteran yoga teacher, John Ogilvie,
the teaching staff on this course are experienced and dedicated. You’ll
be inspired by our resident and guest yoga teachers alike, who ‘walk
their talk’, living the yoga lifestyle, and are all knowledgeable and
passionate about their subjects.

Byron Yoga Centre accepts all students for teacher training who:
Have shown a recent, regular commitment and devotion to the practice
of yoga asana of 120 hours instruction for at least two years (for level
1, less than 2 years of serious and constant practice is considered);
or hold a Certificate III in Fitness or Certificate IV in Personal
Training
Are ready to deepen their own practice on a physical, mental and
spiritual level by gaining new insight and appreciation of the yogic
path;
Have adequate English language literacy and numeracy skills including proficient spoken and written skills;
Students are able to demonstrate the equivalent of Australian High School year 10 proficiency in literacy and numeracy;
Agree to abide by the Byron Yoga Teachers’ Code of Ethics and have
understood and agreed to the policies and procedures of the Byron Yoga
Centre as outlined in the Student Handbook
Have completed Level 1 and Level 2 approved Teacher Training

Byron Yoga Centre’s six month Teacher Training Course in Sydney is a Part Time Non Residential Level Two 300 hour course fully accredited with Yoga Alliance. It is designed to deliver holistic training that encompasses the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the yogic path.
Part B is conducted by correspondence and includes maintaining a journal of self practice. Part B non-residential is included in the cost. The preparation / study for the Part Time Level 2 Teacher Training Course begins 4 weeks before course commencement date, then continues by correspondence after the intensive at a personal pace, for as long as the trainee needs.
The course is designed to deliver holistic training that encompasses the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the yogic path. Completion of Level 1 and Level 2, will facilitate the 500 hours of yoga teacher training recognized by Yoga Alliance and eligibility for recognition by the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia. The course is one of the first Australian Yoga Teacher Training courses accredited by Yoga Alliance as a 500 hour RYT. This represents a very high qualification in yoga teaching that is recognised both in Australia and internationally.

John Ogilvie is the founder and director of Byron Yoga Centre. John has been teaching yoga for over twenty years. He encourages a light heartedness in our approach to yoga and to ourselves.
Liz Dene, a master trainer for Network Pilates, teacher trainer for Byron Yoga Centre and a senior presenter for the Australian Institute of Fitness will also be teaching on the course.
