Teacher Training Course – Byron Bay

Experience makes the difference
Teaching yoga consists of more than simply the skills required to perform asanas correctly or knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Ultimately, the path to teaching yoga with awareness and understanding involves deepening your own practice.

Byron Yoga Centre’s 20-day Teacher Training Course in Byron is fully accredited 200 hour (Yoga Alliance) course. It includes Part A and Part B of the course in the 20 days. Part A is the 12 Day Intensive (120 hours) and the Part B is the additional 8 days (80 hours) to complete your 200 hour requirements. It is designed to deliver holistic training that encompasses the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the yogic path.

Established in 1988 by John Ogilvie, Byron Yoga Centre is one of the longest running yoga schools in Australia. Located near the beach in Byron Bay and a short walk from town.

The lead teachers have over 20 years of knowledge and expertise each.

John Ogilvie founder and director of Byron Yoga, John has been teaching yoga for over twenty years. He encourages a light heartedness in our approach to yoga and to ourselves.

Schedule
Students need to arrive on the afternoon of the first day to settle into their accommodation. The first session starts at 4.00pm.

The course finishes on the last day at 10.00am.

Daily Schedule for the first 12 days
6.00 – 7.30 Asanas with focus on Sequencing, Pranayama and Meditation
7.30 – 9.00 Practical and Lectures

Breakfast

10.00 – 11.30 Practical and Lectures
11.30 – 1.00 Asana Class

Lunch

3.00 – 4.30 Asana Class
4.30 – 6.00 Practical and Lectures

Dinner

7.00 – 8.30 Practical and Lectures

 

Daily Schedule for the final 8 days
6.00 – 7.30 Either teaching or participating as a student in public yoga class
7.30 – 8.00 Personal Practice

Breakfast

10.00 – 12.00 Completing assignments and personal supervised practice

Lunch

3.00 – 3.00 Completing assignments and personal supervised practice
4.00 – 6.00 Either teaching or participating as a student in public yoga class

Food
Food at The Byron Yoga Centre is market fresh. Enjoy healthy and delicious vegetarian cuisine, organic wherever possible, and designed along Ayurvedic principles to be light and cleansing.

Accommodation

Stay in comfortable twin/triple share rooms with shared bathroom facilities.

*Accommodation venue will be advised 4 weeks before the course commencement.

Resources

You will need to bring your own props to the course. These include:

  • yoga mat, strap, block, and eye pillow
