Nrtta is that Sadhana (practice) through which the sadhaka (aspirant) rediscovers the rhythmic life currents hidden in the body’s folds and limbs by means of unimposed natural positioning.

Nrtta Sadhana embraces both slight movements of the limbs and large bodily shapes including sequential arrangements with rhythmic transitions.

Of the one hundred and eight karanas (large bodily shapes) mentioned in the Natya Shastra, not more than thirty-six are used for the purpose of self cultivation.

This workshop will serve to introduce the first form of Nrtta Sadhana - the eight palms - and asana (seats) and is open to all levels of Shadow Yoga students.

Emma Balnaves is the director and teacher of Shadow Yoga and Nrtta Sadhana

This course is open to all Shadow Yoga practitioners.
