Senses & Stillness Retreat: Nyepi, Bali's New Year's 'Day of Silence', culminates a week of yoga, creativity, and beauty, opening a sense of peace and joy and stillness...
Join this special Senses & Stillness retreat to celebrate Nyepi, Bali’s New Year’s Day, 5 March. Nyepi is marked with a day of total silence across the whole island - no cars, no motorbikes, no electricity, the airport is closed for 24 hours... It is an extraordinary experience not repeated anywhere in the world. This retreat is especially designed for '2nd timers', those who have already attended a previous retreat, to further deepen the experiences.
Located amongst the rice fields in the hills outside Ubud, the retreat days each begin with yoga, then explore a meditative image and writing focus. The retreats have been developed through a deep respect for Balinese people and culture, which is woven into the retreats.
Dr Vijoleta Braach-Maksvytis is an internationally accredited yoga teacher (Yoga Alliance RYT) with a PhD in science and a diverse background in science, arts, people, and philosophy. Vijoleta is based in Sydney, and lives in Ubud 3 months a year, teaching yoga to Balinese people and English. The profits from her retreats seed local projects.
Her collaborative retreat in June was reviewed in SMH and The AGE in August 2010 (http://m.smh.com.au/travel/soul-searching-in-bali-20100820-137sh.html).
