AdagioYoga
These workshops are designed to suit different levels and Stefanie will adjust the content in the
workshop to the level of experience in the room. We suggest to start with an
Introductory session to experience the full spectrum of AcroYoga.
Sat Feb 25th 2012 session 1: am (time TBA) (2.5 hrs): INTRODUCTION TO ACROYOGA
(Recommended as a first workshop)
Dive into the world of AcroYoga
Partner asana warm-up sequence, acrobatic drills and partner work, entry-level acrobatic and therapeutic flying. This workshop
is great as an introduction and will feature the full spectrum of AcroYoga - all levels of experience.
Stefanie ’s AcroYoga workshops are a themed and collective journey from start to finish. We begin with an inviting circle
ceremony to connect with our fellow yogis, followed by an asana practice and inversion and tightness drills that prepare for the
acrobatics practice. In trios we work within the roles of base, flyer and spotter on entry-level acrobatic flying. We close the
session with the loving kindness (meta) of therapeutic flying and Thai massage. Prerequisites: This introductory workshop to
AcroYoga is suited for all practitioners with a good general level of fitness equivalent to a regular yoga or acrobatics practice of
min. 6 months. We suggest not practicing AcroYoga during pregnancy or while healing acute injuries.
Sat Feb 25th session 2: pm (time TBA) (2.5 hrs): ACROBATIC FLYING (Deep-Dive into Acrobatics - various
levels, previous acrobatics or yoga experience required) - Playfully Flying High. Acrobatic Asana warm-up sequence, acrobatic
drills, acrobatic counterbalances, pyramids and higher-level acrobatic flying. This workshop is centred around the high-energy
acrobatic component of AcroYoga - we can tailor this to beginners, but the level of fitness required is generally higher.
Tightness drills and partner inversion training prepare us for acrobatic work. In trios we work within the roles of base, flyer and
spotter on counterbalances, pyramids and acrobatic flying. We close the session with a partner flow and counter-stretches.
Prerequisites: This acrobatic workshop is suited for all practitioners with a good general level of fitness, equivalent to a regular
yoga or acrobatics practice of min. 6 months .
Sun Feb 26th session 3: 10.00am – 12.30pm: ACROBATIC FLYING
progressions from the Saturday session
Sun Feb 26th session 5: 2.00pm -4.30pm : THERAPEUTIC FLYING - Connect in Bliss
Fluid Asana warm-up sequence, partner work, Therapeutic Flying and Thai Massage
This workshop is centred around the gentle therapeutic component of AcroYoga, a divine way to stretch and relax - all levels of
experience. Our gentle asana practice introduces the principle of touch and movement with awareness and prepares us for
healing partner work. In pairs and trios we work within the roles of base, flyer and spotter on therapeutic flying. We close the
session with Thai massage. Prerequisites : This therapeutic workshop is suited for all practitioners with a good general level of
fitness, equivalent to a regular yoga or bodywork practice of min. 6 months.
About Stefanie Glasenapp
Steph comes from Germany. Initially trained in acrobatics and dance, she discovered
yoga in Australia. Over the last 7 years, she has been experiencing a variety of yoga
styles and trained with a number of teachers worldwide. Her yoga classes are a mix of
fluid Vinyasa, Anusara, AcroYoga and lately AntiGravityYoga - inspired by dance and
partner work. She is a certified Business Coach and training to be a certified YogaCoach
for individual therapy.
"My approach is to see every body as unique: We are all on our journey at our own pace,
and I truly believe that, respecting where we are at present, yoga can be for everyone. In
my classes, I strive to create a loving and safe environment with a healthy balance between
workout, fun and relaxation. I believe yogis are ready to take the next step in seeing
yoga not only as a way to re-connect to themselves, but also as a wonderful means to connect
again with each other and fly high. My path in life is to facilitate that process."
WHAT IS ACROYOGA?
Usually, as we step onto our own yoga mats, we prepare for the journey ahead and know that it is a solo
experience that we choose to embrace with as much strength and focus as we can summon. We know what to
expect, and our own body and mind sets the limit. AcroYoga blends partner yoga, the fiery practice acrobatics
and the loving kindness of Thai massage. It is a multi-layered partner and group practice based on connection
and trust - and in its variety offers so much more than just a good workout.
Imagine that you enter the room, knowing that you will get strong, focused - and also have so much FUN along
the journey being supported by every single person in the room. Imagine walking out of every class, having created
new friends and learned more about your fellow students than when you first walked in. Experiencing yourself in
relation to others is the essence of AcroYoga.
AcroYoga is a collective journey from start to finish. We begin with an inviting circle ceremony to connect with our
fellow yogis and share the theme of the class. The following asana practice and partner work prepare the body for
higher-level acrobatics in pairs and trios - standing up and flying high! With loving kindness, we close the practice
with gentle stretches, therapeutic flying and Thai massage.
Our mission is to inspire each and everyone to shine to their fullest potential. Throughout the practice, you are reminded that
you are part of a community that fully supports and encourages you to be successful in every moment. In a safe environment,
we playfully discover and learn together, respecting every body ’s strengths and limitations.
When we practice AcroYoga with focus and clarity, we not only have a positive and rewarding experience. We also cultivate the
seeds to inspire others to connect in this unique and playful way, creating a powerful ripple effect across the entire community.
